VERMILLION, S.D. — The 120th all-time meeting of the Interstate Series, presented by First Interstate Bank, between South Dakota and South Dakota State on the gridiron will kickoff at 3 p.m. (CT) on ESPNU on Halloween (October 31)at Dana J. Dykhouse Stadium, the network announced on Monday.

Both teams are currently ranked in the top 10 of both major Football Championship Subdivision polls. SDSU stands fifth in both the American Football Coaches Association rankings and Stats Perform media poll with a 5-2 overall record heading into this Saturday's Hobo Day matchup against Murray State. USD is 6-2 overall with respective rankings of sixth and eighth ahead of its meeting Saturday with North Dakota.  The Halloween clash between the two Division I South Dakota schools will be a top-10 battle, marking the first time both teams have been ranked inside the top-10 since the 2024 meeting in Brookings.

The annual Interstate Series game between the two South Dakota schools dates back to the first game back in 1889 and is the second-longest FCS rivalry, by total meetings, west of the Mississippi River. Since then, it's been an even series with the Jackrabbits holding a slight edge, 58-54-7 in the all-time series.

Heading into this year's football meeting, the Jackrabbits hold a 1.5-0.5 lead through two games (women's soccer, volleyball) played in the 2026-27 series. South Dakota won the 2025-26 series by the score of 11.5-8.5.
