2014 Valley Football All-Newcomer
QB Tre Roberson of Illinois State has been named the Missouri Valley Football Conference Newcomer of the Year, while WR Jake Wieneke of South Dakota State has earned MVFC Freshman of the Year honors. They head a list of 22 student-athletes named to the 2014 Missouri Valley Football Conference All-Newcomer Team. League coaches, sports information directors and a media panel selected the team.
Roberson led the MVFC in total offense (261.1 ypg) and with a pass efficiency rating of 150.8. Wieneke became the first freshman in league history to top 1,000 receiving yards in a season, entering this weekend with 1,375 yards on 70 receptions with 15 TDs. The Maple Grove, Minn., native recorded seven 100-yard games during the regular season and caught a touchdown pass in all eight league games.
