2017 Associated Press All-America Teams
A total of 13 student-athletes from the MVFC have been named to the 2017 Associated Press FCS All-America Team, including six on the first-team unit.

MVFC HONOREES
FIRST TEAM:  
QB Chris Streveler, senior, South Dakota; OL Austin Kuhnert, senior, North Dakota State; OL Jacob Ohnesorge, senior, South Dakota State; TE Dallas Goedert, senior, South Dakota State; LB Brett Taylor, senior, Western Illinois; LB Nick DeLuca, senior, North Dakota State.
SECOND TEAM:  OL Stetson Dagel, senior, South Dakota;  WR Jaelon Acklin, senior, Western Illinois; LB Jared Farley, senior, Northern Iowa; DB Davontae Harris, senior, Illinois State.
THIRD TEAM:  DL Darin Greenfield, sophomore, South Dakota; LB Christian Rozeboom, sophomore, South Dakota State; DB Elijah Campbell, sophomore, Northern Iowa.
 
 
JAELON ACKLIN, WESTERN ILLINOIS
After entering the 2017 campaign with 21 career catches for 364 yards and two touchdowns, Acklin set school single-season records in 2017 with 84 receptions for 1,369 yards. The senior wide receiver's five 100-yard receiving games matched a program record, while his 10 receiving touchdowns tied for fifth.  A native of Mountain View, Mo., Acklin finished the campaign second in the nation in receiving yards (1,369), fifth in receiving yards per game (114.1), seventh in total touchdowns (14), ninth in all-purpose yards per game (135.33), 11th in receptions per game (7.0) and 14th in receiving scores (10). He concludes his career eighth in WIU history with 1,733 receiving yards and tied for 10th with 12 receiving touchdowns.

ELIJAH CAMPBELL, NORTHERN IOWA
Campbell claimed third team All-American honors after a stellar season at safety for UNI. The St. Paul, Minn., native earned 51 tackles, five interceptions, two forced fumbles and 12 pass breakups in 2017. The 12 pass breakups are tied for ninth-most in a season at UNI.  Earlier this season, the senior earned All-MVFC First Team honors. For his career at UNI, Campbell earned 93 tackles, while picking off eight passes and taking two for touchdowns.

STETSON DAGEL, SOUTH DAKOTA
Dagel (Cherokee, Iowa) has been the top lineman for a Coyote offense that ranks second nationally for total yards and fifth for scoring. Dagel has started 26 games and competed in 38 during his four-year career. A team captain, he has headed a unit that ranks 28th nationally in rushing at 190.5 yards per game and sixth in passing at 333.2 yards per game.

NICK DeLUCA, NORTH DAKOTA STATE
DeLuca, a senior from Omaha, Neb., leads NDSU with 61 tackles, 5.5 sacks and three forced fumbles, and he is second on the Bison with 9.0 tackles for loss.  A two-time All-Missouri Valley Football Conference first team pick, he ranks 10th in NDSU history with 316 career tackles and is fifth with 150 solo tackles.

JARED FARLEY, NORTHERN IOWA
Farley was named to the second team after earning a team-high 122 tackles this past season, while scooping up two fumbles with one going the distance for a touchdown. Farley became the first Div. I linebacker since 1996 to score a touchdown on defense, receiving and rushing in one season.  Farley collected All-MVFC First Team honors earlier this season, while also earning MVFC All-Academic Team Honorable Mention. For his storied career, Farley earned 313 total tackles, which ranks eighth-most all-time at UNI.

DARIN GREENFIELD, SOUTH DAKOTA
Greenfield was named to the All-America third team defensive line. A native of Sheldon, Iowa, Greenfield leads the Valley with 19.5 tackles-for-loss this season. He also has the third-most sacks in the MVFC with 9.0. He tallied 59 tackles on the season. With a standout sophomore campaign, Greenfield is one of 12 underclassmen to earn a spot on the AP FCS All-America teams.

DALLAS GOEDERT, SOUTH DAKOTA STATE
Goedert, a senior tight end from Britton, was a repeat honoree on the first team. He has posted his second consecutive 1,000-yard season, recording team highs of 67 receptions and 1,068 receiving yards through 13 games. He also has caught six touchdowns and tallied 100 or more yards in a game six times.   Goedert holds the Missouri Valley Football Conference record for most career receiving yards with 2,945.

DAVONTAE HARRIS, ILLINOIS STATE
The All-American honor is the first in his career at Illinois State for Harris, who recently accepted an accepted an invitation to play in the 93rd East-West Shrine Game® to be held January 20, 2018, at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida.  A two-time All-Missouri Valley Football Conference First-Team selection, Harris led the Redbirds and tied for second in the MVFC with 14 passes defended (12 PBU, 2 INT) during the 2017 season. He also ranked third on the team with 57 tackles, including two sacks and 4.5 tackles for loss, and was credited with three quarterback hurries.  The Wichita, Kansas, native finished his career at ISU with 208 tackles (152 solo stops), 38 passes defended, 10 tackles for loss, four interceptions and three sacks in 49 games played for the Redbirds.

AUSTIN KUHNERT, NORTH DAKOTA STATE
Kuhnert, a senior from Sioux Falls, S.D., has started 49 games and played 53 of 58 possible games in four years at three different positions on the offensive line for the Bison.  He led the Bison during this year's regular season with an 86 percent technique grade and was second on the team with 31 knockdowns.  He was a first team All-Missouri Valley Football Conference pick.

JACOB OHNESORGE, SOUTH DAKOTA STATE
Ohnesorge, a senior center from Waunakee, Wisconsin, also earned a spot on the first team while anchoring a Jackrabbit offensive line that has paved the way for SDSU to average 38.8 points and 444.2 yards of total offense per game. A two-time first-team all-Missouri Valley Football Conference selection, Ohnesorge has started all 52 games of his Jackrabbit career.  He recently received an invitation to play in the East-West Shrine Game next month in St. Petersburg, Florida.

CHRISTIAN ROZEBOOM, SOUTH DAKOTA STATE
Rozeboom in included in the list of finalists for the STATS FCS Buck Buchanan Award for the top defensive player in the FCS. Rozeboom finished as runner-up for the STATS FCS Jerry Rice Award as the subdivision’s top freshman in 2016.  He turned in the 14th double-digit tackling performance of his career — and seventh this season — with a 14-tackle outing Nov. 18 at South Dakota. A sophomore, Rozeboom currently leads the Jackrabbits in tackles this season with 118, after posting a team-high 132 tackles in 2016.  He was the MVFC Freshman of the Year (2016) and is an All-MVFC First Team pick twice (2016, 2017) .

CHRIS STREVELER, SOUTH DAKOTA
Representing South Dakota as the AP All-America first-team quarterback was Streveler, who has also been named the Missouri Valley Football Conference Offensive Player of the Year and a Walter Payton Award finalist. Hailing from Crystal Lake, Ill., Streveler led the Coyotes to the program's FCS playoffs debut and broke MVFC and USD records for total yards (4,854) and passing yards (4,134). He accounted for 43 touchdowns – 32 passing, 11 rushing – which ranks second nationally in points responsible for.

BRETT TAYLOR, WESTERN ILLINOIS
Invited to the STATS FCS Awards Banquet as a finalist for the Buck Buchanan Award, given to the top defensive player in the FCS, Taylor is the first Leatherneck since Kyle Glazier (2009, 2010) to earn two AP All-American honors. Named to the Second Team a year ago, Taylor was placed on the AP's First Team this season. Acklin, who was placed on the Second Team, is the first Western Illinois wide receiver to earn AP All-American honors since Stacy Coleman in 2002.  The Missouri Valley Football Conference Defensive Player of the Year, Taylor is the nation's leader in tackles (162), stops per game (13.5) and assisted tackles (96). The native of Macomb, Ill., also logged four Missouri Valley Football Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors and totaled 13.0 tackles for a loss, 1.5 sacks, four breakups, two forced fumbles and one quarterback hurry on the season. A three-time All-MVFC honoree, Taylor concluded his Western Illinois career with 469 tackles and 266 solo stops, which are each the third-most in school history, respectively. His 203 career assisted tackles rank fourth in program history.
