Valley Football - Players of the Week (Nov. 24)
Valley Football - Players of the Week (Nov. 24)
This week's Missouri Valley Football Conference players of the week feature QB Nathan Mays of Youngstown State; WR/FB Dominique Dafney of Indiana State; LS Dalton Godfrey of South Dakota; and DE Justus Reed of Youngstown State.

Co-Offensive Player of the Week
QB Nathan Mays, Youngstown State
6-3, 220, Sr., Urbana, Ohio (Urbana)

Mays played the final snap of the Penguins' season finale against Illinois State on Saturday. Mays came on the field less than three weeks following surgery after he suffered a career-ending injury against North Dakota State on Nov. 2. Mays left the Stambaugh Stadium turf that evening against the Bison on a golf cart. On Saturday, he put on his YSU uniform to be honored during Senior Day then sat on the bench for the next two-plus hours. With the Penguins' impressive 21-3 win over Illinois State clinched, YSU called timeout with 10 seconds left. Mays was carried to the Penguins' huddle by Myles Douglas and Matt Jones. He took a snap from Jones and with the assistance of two teammates took a knee as the clock ran out. It wasn't planned entering the game, but it happened. Mays went to Coach Pelini during the game and said if it's a possibility, can we make it happen. Coach said "yes". Mays then dressed on the sidelines and went out to finish off his career under center and not on a golf cart. That's football. That's sports. The end-game scene has been shown throughout social media and on TV across the country.

An Iowa naïve, Dafney rushed the ball 20 times for a 12.2 yards per carry average to lead the team. His four rushing touchdowns were the most since Ja’Quan Keyes hit the mark against Eastern Illinois in 2018. DB Jeremy Chinn, Southern Illinois
All-American safety Jeremy Chinn piled up 12 tackles and a sack to limit No. 1 North Dakota State to a season-low 21 points on Saturday. Chinn’s 12 tackles were a game high, and his sack pushed NDSU out of field goal range and kept the Bison off the scoreboard on that drive. It was the second-straight game and the fourth time in his career that Chinn recorded 10 or more tackles.

Kolarevic tallied five tackles, including a tackle for loss and scored on a 28-yard interception return for a touchdown to help UNI pick up a 38-7 win over Western Illinois Saturday in the UNI-Dome.
