Trevor Penning earns UNI football's first MVFC Offensive Lineman of the Week honor
CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – Trevor Penning is the first Panther of the season to be named the Missouri Valley Conference Offensive Lineman of the week.

His performance Saturday helped UNI football top No. 6 South Dakota State. The Panthers notched 16 first downs. UNI had 103 rushing yards, compared to SDSU's 60 yards.  UNI added 232 in passing yards. The UNI offense allowed for wide receiver Isaiah Weston to have a 125-yard receiving game.

UNI converted on four third-down attempts and recorded more than 34 minutes of possession.

Penning, a 6-foot, 7-inch, 320-pound offensive lineman, played and started five games at left tackle and one at right tackle in the spring of 2021. Penning was named a STATS Preseason All-American in 2021.  He finished the season with honorable mention All-MVFC honors and named to the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl Big Board.

Penning is a redshirt junior from Clear Lake, Iowa, and a graduate of Newman Catholic High School. He is the son of Jeff and Teresa Penning. His brother, Jared is also on the UNI football team
