This week's Missouri Valley Football Conference players of the week include RB Javon Williams Jr. of Southern Illinois, QB Mark Gronowski of South Dakota State, LB Adam Bock of South Dakota State, and PK Cole Frahm of South Dakota State.
 
Offensive Player of the Week
RB Javon Williams Jr., Southern Illinois
6-2, 245, So., Centralia, Ill. (Centralia High)
Southern Illinois beat visiting No. 15 Southeastern Louisiana on Saturday in a shoot-out for the ages, just about every stadium offensive record fell by the wayside. The teams combined for 103 points and 1,347 yards in a 55-48 win. Southern was unstoppable on the ground, averaging more than eight yards per carry.  Javon Williams Jr. (145 yards on 24 carries) tallied two touchdown runs, while SIU's offensive line mauled the Lions to the tune of 423 rushing yards — the program's most against a Division I team since 2006.  Williams Jr. also completed a pass for a 56-yard TD.

Newcomer of the Week
QB Mark Gronowski, South Dakota State
6-3, 200, Fr., Naperville, Ill. (Neuqua Valley H.S.)
Gronowski accounted for 275 yards of total offense in South Dakota State’s 27-17 victory at North Dakota State on April 17. He completed 10-of-14 passes for 149 yards, including a 25-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter, and also was the game’s leading rusher with 126 yards on 16 carries as he hit the century mark for rushing for the third time this season. His 55-yard run in the closing minutes set up a touchdown that sealed the Dakota Marker victory for the Jackrabbits, who also claimed a share of the league title.

Defensive Player of the Week
LB Adam Bock, South Dakota State
6-1, 210, R-Fr., Solon, Iowa (Solon High)
Bock registered a game-high 13 tackles, including 2.5 tackles for loss, in South Dakota State’s 27-17 road win at North Dakota State on April 17. He led a Jackrabbit defensive unit that limited NDSU to 246 yards of total offense, including only 97 on the ground.

Special Teams Player of the Week
PK Cole Frahm, South Dakota State
6-5, 225, Jr., Omaha, Neb. (Burke High/Nebraska)
Frahm was 2-for-2 on field goals and added three extra points for eight points in South Dakota State’s 27-17 Dakota Marker victory at North Dakota State on April 17. He connected on field goals of 31 and 24 yards, the second of which game the Jackrabbits the lead for good midway through the fourth quarter. Frahm, who has made a field goal in all six SDSU games this season, also successfully executed a variety of kickoffs to help negate NDSU’s return game.
 

Others Considered

P Jack Colquhoun, Southern Illinois -- Colquhoun did not register a punt in the offensive record-setting day against No. 15 Southeastern Louisiana, but he had the special teams play of the day, running 22 yards on a 4th and 5 late in the first half from the Saluki 30-yard line for a first down.  The Salukis later scored on the drive to take a 34-27 lead just before halftime.
 
P/KO Garret Wegner, North Dakota State -- Wegner averaged 42.2 yards on five punts in North Dakota State’s 27-17 loss to South Dakota State. Wegner had two punts of 51 yards and two punts inside the 20. His first 51-yarder went to the SDSU 6 followed by a 25-yarder to the SDSU 10 and another 51-yard punt late in the second quarter in a 7-3 game. Wegner also handled all four kickoffs for NDSU with an average of 58.0 yards and two touchbacks.
 
QB Cam Miller, North Dakota State -- Miller went 9 of 16 passing for a season-high 149 yards in North Dakota State’s 27-17 loss to South Dakota State. He completed passes to six different receivers and had a long of 39 yards. Miller also had a team-high 15 carries for 38 yards and two touchdowns, a 13-yard run and 2-yard run both in the third quarter to help NDSU tie the game at 10-10 and 17-17.
