Missouri Valley Football Weekly Notebook (11.14.24)
Saturday's game guarantees either North Dakota State or Missouri State will be 7-0 in league play. Seven MVFC teams have started 7-0 and each of those teams won the league with an unbeaten record (SIU 7-0 in 2004 and 8-0 in 2009; NDSU 8-0 in 2013, 2018 and 2019; SDSU 8-0 in 2022 and 2023).
Six of the Missouri Valley Football Conference’s 11 programs rank in the top 18 of the Massey FCS Ratings. In Massey, UNI’s strength of schedule leads the MVFC and is No. 2 nationally (behind Portland State). South Dakota State (3), Southern Illinois (4), North Dakota State (8), Youngstown State (10), North Dakota (9), South Dakota (14), and Illinois State (15) also have SOS in the FCS Top 15.
Six MVFC football programs rank among the Top 14 in Jeff Sagarin’s football ratings, which includes four of the top six FCS teams. The MVFC is the highest-rated FCS conference in Sagarin.
