During the 2025 Missouri Valley Football Conference Media Day, it was revealed that the league's championship trophy would be renamed in honor of Patty Viverito, who served as league commissioner for 40 years (1985-2024).   The trophy -- The Patty Viverito Missouri Valley Conference Championship Trophy -- is the second league award that bears a namesake, joining the league's coach of the year honor, named for former Western Illinois head coach Bruce Craddock.
